And here's a full album of it! There's a great variety of bass going on, different n'gonis and a bolon, with raspy textures.

If you love Malian music, you will love this album. The rhythms are fine, the vocals pull you in and the group plays a wide variety of traditional instruments (three types of ngoni, plus n'dan, djembe and others.) Of course electric guitar and bass too. Hard not to dance.

Awesome Mali music with stunning vocals from Rokia Kouyate and Mahamdou Sidibe. Jazz edge to the brass but nicely restrained. How to pick a favourite track? Muso, with its skipping Mande zouk beat and Rokia's beautiful vocal. Baga Kanjo, the slowly unveiling first track with n'goni, Rokia leading then switching to Mahamadou. Diarabi, has the most perfect balance of n'goni, acoustic guitar, percussion, brass and vocals. You really have to get this one!

Sublime and self confident. A timeless classic. Powerful and sometimes strident Malian vocal backed by one acoustic guitar. That's all that's needed to continue the beauty of a culture. The recording quality is great, there's texture in the vocal and guitar, and space in between.
